Indiana man turned to Rush skull base surgery team to remove rare chordoma

Neepa Patel, MD is a neurologist in the Rush University System for Health and the director for the Movement Disorder Interventional Program in the Department of Neurological Sciences. Her interests include improving the quality and delivery of care for patients receiving deep brain stimulation (DBS) and education to improve the utilization of new therapies in movement disorders.

The Rush Cancer Center has a deep commitment to accelerating innovations that bring cutting edge research to the bedside. Two examples of those innovations that Steven Gitelis, MD, and Rush have an active role in developing are 3-D printed models, which can help to preserve healthy tissue when treating benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors, and hybrid cold plasma, which can help stop the recurrence of cancer after surgery.

Rima Dafer, MD, is a vascular neurologist and the director of the Comprehensive Outpatient Cerebrovascular Diseases Clinic at º£½ÇÔ­´´. She has been a principal investigator on numerous clinical trials in acute stroke intervention and secondary stroke prevention. Her clinical interests center around stroke occurrence in young adults and the association of stroke and atrial fibrillation.
